Walk The Broken Road (Special Edition) by PonderHope Walk The Broken Road (Special Edition) by PonderHope
The Special Edition cover for Half Broken's Walk The Broken Road. This MIGHT be a rough draft but because of time constraints, I might just use this one. This was supposed to be a heart with devil horns, a halo, and wings. But then it kind of took on a shape of it's own though...but this isn't the Mona Lisa and at least the color contrast' are attractive.

Materials: Watercolors, watercolor paper, brushes, salt
Time: At least an hour and a half

the image is interesting and makes you think..for me, it reminds me of both good and evil, but also the grey area inbetween

It's nice to see how you were able to save something that didn't went as you expected at first and then it came out something new :)

Its an interesting idea but I really wouldn't know what this was if I didn't read the title. ^^; I know its abstract but maybe you should make the subject a bit more obvious.

Hmmm...well it's imagery that's used quite a bit just painted in an abstract fashion.

Love the contrasts in the color you chose,i know you were under a deadline, but even with that,it is striking.
the only thing i can say that would make it better is to have used just a little more darker tones but apart from that,as i said, this piece is striking!

Thank you! :D I personally like the way the watercolor came out with this one...even if I don't really paint with them anymore.

Critique: I like this one, It is very interesting to me. If your referring to a devilish look,Stroking the brush around alot works well. Why? It's because when people hear devil, they think of fire/flames/burning. So adding that effect to it may help the idea your trying to get threw. The horns are a bit rounded and facing downward, slightly un-even. The head is also slightly mis-shaped. Other than that it is good. Well done.

I donīt know why but when I look at this I see an abgel halo, but also dewil horns. So if I was to interpret this painting I would say it is a fight between good and evil :)

To be honest, I don't exactly know the underlying meaning behind the imagery. Their lead singer wanted me to paint a heart with angel wings, devil horns, and a halo. There's a lot of "what if" symbolism there. This one is pretty expressive and all over the place, which is good in some sense. :) Thank you for the comment ^_^

I'll keep that in mind for next time...I probably won't be painting in watercolor any time soon though. :p ( I don't have too many watercolor tubes left) Plus I don't really paint in watercolor anymore. It's acrylic and gouache with me nowadays. Maybe I'll try 'em again someday...but thank you for your comment! ^^

Beautiful colors, very well done, tho it dosent have the shape of the heart we all know, you can easily tell it still is a heart and I can imaginethis being a cover image so easily :)

The colours work well together but I do agree with what ~Geolyn that it needs more definition. I would suggest perhaps giving it some kind of outline.

I threw this together in about an hour and a half, yeah I definitely could've spent more time on this one.

It could use some more definition...right now everything kind of blends together. You are right though, the colors look nice together. But it might look better if it had some darker and lighter regions, something to give more contrast to it.

Thanks for the tip! Yeah, this could've used a bit more lights and darks.

From what you said i can begin to see what you were trying to achieve. I enjoy the color contrast and the only critique i have is the white separating the heart from the horn. It creates a block of the movement from left to right, i get stuck on it. It would be nice if these two overlapped or connected somehow.
